Lawn Care Programs

Our four-step lawn care program provides the foundation for healthy yards and landscapes. These lawn services are designed to address basic ongoing needs and seasonal concerns, ultimately keeping your lawn healthy and beautiful.

Total Lawn Care is proud to offer the following Comprehensive Four Step Process:

First Application April/May Provides a slow release, balanced, and complete fertilizer which helps discourage proliferation of certain diseases while supporting a healthy start in early spring. A preventative crabgrass treatment is included.
Second Application May/June Controlled release fertilizer promotes root and shoot growth to discourage weeds and prepares your lawn for the stresses of summer. A follow-up crabgrass treatment and a spot treatment of broadleaf weeds is included
Third Application June/July Controlled release and blended fertilizer which is especially important during the stressful summer season. A grub treatment and spot treatment of broadleaf weeds is included.
Fourth Application August/September Special blended fertilizer to help lawns recover from the stresses of summer. A spot treatment of broadleaf weeds is included.

Total Lawn Care also provides the following Additional Lawn Care Services, which allows you to customize your lawn care program to best meet your lawn care needs:

Treatment Description
Tick Treatments April - September Depending upon the threat, up to six treatments can be provided to protect you and your family from dangerous deer and wood/dog ticks.
Disease Treatments As Required Stressed lawns, high humidity, and grass species can all play a role in the proliferation of several lawn diseases. The type of disease and season dictate the course of action
Surface Insect Treatment As Required Treatment for surface insect such as chinch bugs, which feed on and destroy grass.
Lime Application September/October Soil pH (measurement of soil acidity/alkalinity) determines the availability of soil nutrients to the grass plant. Most Connecticut soils are acidic and require lime to raise pH level closer to neutral.
Weed Treatments As Required Treatment of difficult to control weeds such as wild violet and nut sedge. Multiple treatments are usually required to maintain control of weeds.
Core Aeration September/October A core aeration machine is utilized to remove plugs of soil to improve soil aeration moisture movement, and retention. Plugs are left on the lawn surface to breakdown naturally. This treatment also reduces thatch density.
Winterizer October/November Balanced fertilizer to thicken the lawn and maintain brilliant fall color. Also helps strengthen roots, which allows for a healthier lawn in the spring.
Comprehensive Soil Testing As Required The information obtained from testing your soil will allow us to customize your lawn program for optimum results.
